Helen Keller, an American author who was blind and deaf, once said: “alone we can do so little, together we can do so much”. We strongly agree with her quotation, that’s why The Paella Club is eager to contribute to societal causes in order to become a drop that, together with many others, will form a beautiful sea which beneath its surface will find the wonderful depths of humanity. For each one of our customers’ reservations we will donate 1€ to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that help people because we strongly believe commitment to excellence cannot be separated from social impact initiatives.

We would like to tell you the story of the last NGO we helped with our donations: the Josep Carreras Foundation because, if you came to our experiences, you have also contributed in it. Driven by the challenge to transform Leukemia into a 100% curable disease JCF tirelessly supports various projects for the benefit of patients suffering from Leukaemia, lymphoma, multiple myeloma and other type of blood cancer. While they work to achieve their dream, they also strive to minimize the side effects of the treatments, to supply precise information to patients, address their medical inquiries and providing accommodation in apartments for those who must travel long distances for treatment.

Josep Carreras Leukemia Foundation was founded in 1988, after the tenor’s successful recovery. The foundation’s establishment was driven by the initiative of singer Josep Carreras, alongside his family and a significant cohort of haematology specialists, aiming to reciprocate the care and encouragement received during his illness by contributing to society and scientific advancement. They specifically work through four departments: the Josep Carreras Leukemia Research Institute, the Bone Marrow Donor Registry; the Patient Experience Program and the Hospitality Apartments Program. 100% of the donations made to the foundation go to these programmes to help people be unstoppable against leukemia.

“I remember my first admission perfectly well. It was 1987 and I was forty years old. In the room next to mine in the hospital there was a baby, only about two years old. This made a big impact on me. I was overcome with a feeling of profound injustice and helplessness that encouraged me to create, in 1988, this Foundation to fight against Leukaemia – explains Josep Carreras – since the creation of the Foundation, we never ceased to promote and carry out innovation and support projects. In recent decades, cure rates have improved dramatically, but today, one in five children and half of adult patients are still unable to overcome the disease. As you know, this is often due to the serious side effects of the treatments. As you can see from our activities, we are attacking the disease on many fronts. On behalf of all of us who are part of this organization, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to all those people who support us, both financially and by becoming bone marrow or umbilical cord blood donors. With each research project, with each small charitable contribution, with each recovered patient we are expanding the opportunities for those who, unfortunately, suffer and will continue to suffer from this terrible experience. We will not give up until we cure it”.

The Paella Club feels deeply honoured to have the possibility to help NGOs taking a euro from every booking made and placing it into a fund to collaborate every trimester with a different organization. We join forces, altogether, you too, to help different causes that elevate the living of those who needed the most in our community. Our dream of sharing does not stop in the club, but is extended to the whole society, by booking an experience with us you will not only exit our venue with a smile, but you will make someone else you probably will never meet smile too. Even though you may never see in person the recipient of your donation, at the end you will be connected forever in your hearts and, as Helen Keller taught us “the best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart”.
